Nestled in the heart of Los Altos, California, this striking new-construction residence exemplifies contemporary architecture with a bold commitment to transparency, light, and seamless indoor-outdoor living. Built around a central courtyard, the home features expansive glass walls that blur the boundaries between nature and interior space. Our team was brought in to install a full suite of Awake Windows and Scenic Doors—a perfect match for the project’s architectural vision.
Clear Vision
The homeowners and architect envisioned a home where glass played the starring role—opening up the living space, maximizing natural light, and creating fluid sightlines from room to room and from indoors to out. Clean lines, minimal frames, and high thermal performance were non-negotiables. Awake’s high-performance aluminum systems offered the ideal balance of aesthetics and engineering.
Our Role
As the designated window and door installation partner, our team managed the technical coordination, waterproofing integration, and precision installation of:
- Floor-to-ceiling fixed glass panels across the main living spaces
- Multi-panel Scenic Door systems opening to the central courtyard
- Narrow-sightline corner windows that visually dissolve structural barriers
- Custom glazed openings including operable units for airflow and comfort
We collaborated closely with the general contractor, architect, and Awake’s engineering team to ensure proper alignment, tolerances, and structural supports were met—all while maintaining the design’s refined minimalist intent.
Challenges & Solutions
This project presented several technical challenges due to the home's glass-dominant design:
Structural Coordination: Supporting massive glass panels required careful structural framing and header integration, especially at the corner window transitions.
Waterproofing & Drainage: With multiple zero-threshold door systems and large expanses of glazing, meticulous waterproofing and sloping were essential to protect the envelope.
Precision Installation: Awake’s systems are engineered with extremely tight tolerances. Our team employed laser-leveling tools and custom shims to achieve flawless alignments across the home.
